Sea Iceland cotton is so soft that one could easily mistake it for cashmere or silk. This rare cotton from the West Indies makes the purist Bateaux top with narrow shoulders an unspeakably luxurious perfection that can also be worn as a top.
As pioneers of well-being, we select only the highest quality raw materials. Sea Island Cotton—also known as white gold—offers the ultimate sense of well-being. Learn more about this rare cotton here:
1) Sea Island cotton comes from the West Indies, a group of islands in the Caribbean. Where others spend their holidays, this is also the home of cotton. The heavy rains provide irrigation, and the minimal temperature fluctuations between day and night create the ideal climate.
2) 110 million cotton bales are produced worldwide annually. Only 70 of these bales come from Barbados, and these are now harvested exclusively for the new Zimmerli collection from Switzerland.
3) Sea Island Cotton is carefully picked. This ensures that only mature cotton plants are harvested and that any plant or mineral contamination, which can occur during mechanical harvesting, is completely prevented. This also contributes to a more consistent appearance of the finished goods.
4) Our partners cultivate their own local plantations in collaboration with ECCI Cotton, a cooperative of local cotton growers. The entire value chain can be traced, ensuring consistent and high quality.
5) You can recognize the 100% authenticity of Sea Island Cotton by its hologram. Only the numbered certificate from the specialized West Indian Sea Island Cotton Association (WISICA) guarantees the 100% authenticity of Sea Island Cotton.
